I have regular conversations with myself. Mostly, they’re pretty quiet, unspoken, but when I’m alone, sometimes I catch myself actually speaking out loud. I surprise myself, and try to remind myself not to get caught speaking out loud in front of people. The dogs don’t seem to mind, though.

Claire Desjardins (b. 1965, Montreal) is an award-winning Canadian artist living and working in Gore, Quebec. Working primarily in painting, her formally driven work focuses on gesture and colour, emphasizing energetic, animated brush strokes and bold palettes.
